About Frank

Frank began his career working as a Sports Medicine Physical Therapist in 1987 for Dr. Charles Virgin, the team physician of the Miami Dolphins.

Aside from treating professional athletes and recreational athletes, Frank also assisted Dr. Charles Virgin in his Kennedy-Lad Ligament Augmentation Device research program sponsored by the 3M Corp. This was an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction protocol. Frank was responsible for writing and implementing postoperative protocols and progressing patients to a faster rehabilitation outcome.

In 1990, Frank joined Dr. Charles Shapiro in an outpatient orthopedic sports medicine clinical practice called The Sport Clinic. This was an independent clinic that relied on referrals solely based on good results for 23 years. During Frank’s time as director of The Sport Clinic, he was also the Physical Therapist for the Miami Miracle Minor League Baseball Team under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Kanell in 1990-91.

From 1994 to 1997, Frank was also in charge of the Sports Medicine Internship Program as a clinical faculty member for the Barry Podiatric School of Medicine. He supervised Podiatric student internships under the tutelage of Dr. James Losito.

In 2004, Frank founded “Prescription Exercise, Corp”, a personal training, lecturing and consulting business. His goal was aimed at educating personal trainers and their clients on orthopedic considerations and contraindications for developing proper exercise programs. He determined that this service was particularly needed for people over 50 years of age. This concept is a fusion of orthopedically-based knowledge and experience along with fitness awareness. He then implements a more focused exercise program which is often helpful at alleviating chronic pain issues and reducing exercise-induced injuries for his patients/clients. He provides a unique integrated exercise approach, assessing individual’s orthopedic considerations and then implementing them in every day exercise programs.

Frank then introduced this concept to The Pritikin Longevity Center in 2004. He then became a biomechanical lecturer and the Biomechanical Director in charge of setting up orthopedically-based exercise programs for clients at Pritikin. Frank receives excellent reviews of his lectures and he also frequently has a waiting list for his unique consultations. Additionally, Frank has consulted and lectured at various other locations, such as, Williams Island Spa, in Aventura, The Quayside Spa in North Miami, and The Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL. He also consults at The Oasis Institute with Dr. George Munoz, in Hallandale, FL., which is a concierge rheumatology and wellness center.

In 2007, Frank introduced his exercise concept to a larger audience on the television program called, “Comcast Newsmakers” with Spero Canton. He was also featured on “The Arthritis Show” with Dr. Farschian, which can be accessed on youtube at Frank Musomeci. Frank’s concepts have contributed to articles in the “Boston Globe”, April 2011, “Ivillage”, September 2011,” Runner’s World”, October 2011, and Outside Magazine, 2013. Frank was also interviewed on the radio show called “Boomer Times Presents” on June 14, 2014 with Anita Finley. This interview can be accessed on youtube.com as well.

In 2011, Frank contributed to the Pritikin ICR Program (Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program), which is a hospital-based concept. This program includes a series of lectures to help people optimize their cardiovascular goals through exercise and diet. Frank was one of these selected lecturers for this highly successful program.

In 2013, Frank began consulting with the Cybex Equipment Corporation. He contributed ideas used in their national campaign for developing exercise programs geared particularly toward the “baby boomer” generation.

In 2015, Frank became a guest lecturer to the Larkin Hospital Sports Medicine Fellowship Program under the tutelage of Dr. Joel Stein and continues as a guest lecture there. He lectures about rotator cuff pathology, repair and rehabilitation. Additionally, he speaks about anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgeries and other knee surgeries. He then teaches exercise considerations, and postoperative protocols.

Frank’s mission is prevention of orthopedic injuries often caused by improper exercise choices, with an emphasis on implementation of proper individualized exercise programs. His passion is on educating the public about common aging principles to minimize injury, which often results in unnecessary surgeries and medications. His lectures teach principles that promote exercise compliance to allow individual’s the freedom to continue in optimal health for daily and recreational activities.
